With twenty years of performing experience, LeAnne Bennion has been highly praised for her masterful ability to create a classy atmosphere for any event. She has played at distinguished venues such as the Palmer House, Chicago Symphony Hall, The Drake Tower, the Chicago Botanic Garden, St. James Cathedral and she regularly plays for tea time at the Langham Hotel and the Palmer House Hilton.
LeAnne earned a Master of Music from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts and a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the University of Utah. At CCPA she studied with Marguerite Lynn Williams, principal harpist of The Lyric Opera of Chicago. Her teachers include Louise Vickerman (principal harpist of the Utah Symphony), Dr. Carrol McLaughlin (University of Arizona), Dr. Cathy Clayton (University of Utah) and Dr. Heidi Hernandez (Phoenix Symphony). She has participated in masterclasses with Sarah Bullen, Elizabeth Cifani, María Luisa Rayan-Forero, Park Stickney and Delphin Latil.
As a gifted teacher in the Chicagoland area, LeAnne currently teaches over thirty students. She is harp instructor faculty at The Chicago School of Music, Lane Tech Preparatory High School and Niles West High School in Skokie. She has served several times as an adjudicator for the annual Utah Spring Harp Festival as well as a presenter at the annual University of Arizona Harp Experience harp camp.
As an orchestral harpist, LeAnne has performed with Chicago Philharmonic, Chicago Symphonic Winds, The Salt Lake Symphony and The Cathedral Choir of the St. James. During her time as principal harpist of the Utah Wind Symphony, she performed at the distinguished Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. Her talent has been heard by noted audiences such as The Musicians Club of Salt Lake City, the President of Liechtenstein and the Governor of Utah.
LeAnne has performed in numerous states as well as countries across Europe and South America. As a freelance harpist and experienced chamber artist, she performs with choirs, for weddings, funerals, business events and private parties. In particular, LeAnne enjoys playing vintage jazz and the music of iconic figures such as Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, George Gershwin and Ella Fitzgerald.
As a resident of Chicago, LeAnne enjoys exploring the city and blogging about her adventures. Her musical progress and success can be attributed, in part, to her loving and devoted grandmother and to the constant encouragement and support of her parents and teachers.
